According to legend, Qu Yuan, a poet of the state of Chu in the Warring States period, committed suicide by jumping into the Miluo River on the fifth day of May. So in China, people will eat Zhongzi to commemorate Qu Yuan. But in the south of China, people have one more activity, which is holding dragon boat races to commemorate Qu Yuan also.
